Central Wajima City, approximately one month after the earthquake (February 4, 2024).
輪島の朝市通りに出ました。
I went out to the morning market street in Wajima.
大規模火災の被害にあったのは、木下小路から海に向かって西側の地域5万平方メートル以上と言われます。
It is said that more than 50,000 square meters of the area west of Kinoshita Koji toward the sea was damaged by the large fire.
朝市通りにはほぼ毎日、朝8時〜12時まで200軒もの露天が並びました。通りの一画には「永井豪記念館」や漆器店がありました。
The morning market street was lined with as many as 200 open-air stalls from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. almost every day. There was a "Go Nagai Memorial Museum" and a lacquer ware store on one side of the street.
海に続く馬出し小路が焼けどまりのラインとなりましたが、火災を逃れた家屋も地震で崩れています。
Burned out lines of houses that escaped the fire also collapsed in the quake, although the umadashi-road to the sea became a burnt-out line.
消防や警察のヘリコプターが上空をひっきりなしに飛んでいます。
Fire and police helicopters fly incessantly overhead.
東側の通りは火災の被害を逃れたものの、倒壊した店舗も多く見られました。
Although the streets to the east escaped fire damage, many stores were destroyed by the earthquake.
朝市通りでひときわめだつ山崖政右衛門漆器店峰秀堂の大看板。
The large signboard of the Yamagai Masaemon Urushi Lacquer Ware Shop Minehide-do stands out prominently on the morning market street.
向かいに建つ「涛華堂」八井浄漆器本店。

マリンタウンの大テント下では、水、カイロ、簡易トイレ、日用品等の配布が行われていました。
Water, warmer, portable toilets, daily necessities, etc. were being distributed under a large tent in Marintown.

マスコミで盛んに取り上げられた輪島朝市の大火災。
The Wajima Asaichi fire was widely reported in the mass media.
市姫社は女人守護、市場の交易の守り神として信仰されました。素麺の産地にちなみ、小麦の挽臼が祠に使われています。
Ichihime Shrine was worshipped as a guardian of women and trade in the marketplace.
約300棟の建物が焼け、5万800平方メートルが焼失したと考えられています。
It is believed that approximately 300 buildings burned and 50,800 square meters were destroyed.
マリンタウンの駐車場には国交省中国地方整備局の車両が駐車していました。
A vehicle from the Chugoku Regional Development Bureau of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism was parked in the parking lot of Marintown.
海側の窯業系サイディングやガリバリウム鋼板を張った家は健全性を保っていました。延焼速度は1時間あたり20〜30mと考えられています。
Houses with ceramic siding and galvanized steel on the ocean side remained sound. The rate of fire spread is thought to be 20 to 30 meters per hour.
火災は南西部から西側に広がり、風向きの変化によって南側、北側、東側へ広がり、川や道路によって延焼が止まったと考えられています。
The fire is believed to have spread from the southwest to the west, then to the south, north, and east as the wind direction changed, and the spread of the fire was stopped by the river and road.

The place where Wajimaya Zenjin "Nurishi no Ie" was located was also burned down.
塗師の家の井戸が、その痕跡を残しています。
The well in the painter's house bears traces of this.
